MATCH REPORT:
Lancashire Men started their 2025 pre-season with a five-wicket defeat during a hard fought one-day friendly against a strong KSCA XI in Bengaluru.
Lancashire opted to bat first and Michael Jones, playing in his first match for the Club since joining from Durham during the winter, opened the batting and top scored in a classy knock of 60 from 64 balls.
The Red Rose were 67-3 after the opening 15 overs but continued to lose wickets throughout the middle period of the innings.
Harry Singh scored 25 before a ninth wicket partnership of 40 runs, shared between Tom Aspinwall (22) and Josh Boyden (18) guided Lancashire 162-8 before the final two wickets fell in quick succession.
The home side were set a target of 165 to win from their 50 overs before Luke Wood (2-48) took the first of his two wickets of the match in the opening over of the chase.
Charlie Barnard also impressed claiming 2-52 with his left-arm spin and when Jack Blatherwick (1-34) picked up the fifth KSCA wicket with the score 112-5 after 21 overs, Lancashire looked well in the game.
However the sixth wicket partnership guided KSCA home to victory by five wickets at the Alur Cricket Ground.
The two sides will meet again on Monday in another one-day friendly which will be shown live on LancsTV.
