Emirates Old Trafford - Bag Policy FAQs
We're committed to making everyone’s visit to Emirates Old Trafford safe, smooth, and enjoyable. To help with that, we have a bag policy in place. Here’s everything you need to know before heading to the ground.
1. Why are bag checks in place?
Your safety is our top priority. Bag checks help us keep everyone secure by identifying restricted items and ensuring all bags meet our guidelines.
This is part of our Club Safety Strategy, developed with security experts, including Counter Terrorism Security Advisors.
In light of past national events, we want to offer peace of mind - especially to families and those attending with children - by showing that we take these measures seriously.
2. What kind of bag can I bring?
You’re welcome to bring one small bag per person. It must be no bigger than 18” x 12” x 12” (45cm x 30cm x 30cm) - about the size of a regular backpack or rucksack.
3. Why is there a size limit?
- We have a size limit for the following reasons:
- It fits under your seat, so it doesn’t block aisles or create trip hazards.
- It matches policies at other major stadiums.
- It speeds up entry and reduces waiting time.
- It makes it easier to pack essentials - food, baby supplies, a jacket.
- It helps us stick to national safety protocols
4. Can I carry a bag inside another bag?
To keep things simple and secure, we ask that you bring only one bag - no additional bags tucked inside. This helps us complete checks quickly and avoid any confusion or delays.
5. Do bags need to be checked every day?
Yes, they do. For everyone’s safety, all bags must go through inspection and tagging each day you attend. It’s quick and ensures all items inside the ground have been cleared.
6. Why is my bag tagged?
The tag shows that your bag:
- Was checked by trained staff at the official entrance
- Can’t be swapped or thrown in from outside the venue
- Has been cleared by our safety team and local authorities
- Helps us quickly identify cleared bags if one is left unattended
- Is part of our commitment to keeping you safe under our Club safety strategy
7. Where do bag checks happen?
All bag checks and tagging take place at the entrance to the ground. Unfortunately, bags can’t be brought inside unless they've been checked and tagged.
8. Can I bring in food or a cool bag?
Of course! You’re welcome to bring food, including in a cool bag, as long as:
- The bag is within the permitted size range
- It doesn’t contain anything prohibited (like glass bottles, cans or alcohol)
11. Are seat pads allowed?
Yes! Feel free to bring a seat pad for extra comfort—just make sure it’s not bulky or hiding any items. Our stewards may give it a quick check.
10. Can I store an extra bag somewhere?
Unfortunately, there aren’t any bag storage options on-site. Each guest (including Members) may bring one bag, which must stay with you throughout your visit.
If you're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, they may be able to store luggage for you.
11. Why the "one bag per person" rule?
- Everyone has one seat, with limited space underneath.
- Extra bags can block exits or cause trip hazards.
- More bags mean slower entry times for everyone.
- It reduces the risk of unattended items.
- It’s a fair system—families can bring one bag per person.
- It’s a key part of our Club safety strategy.
All bags are searched so please allow yourself plenty of time to arrive and have this completed before entering.
If you have any questions, our friendly team will be happy to help on the day. Thanks for helping us keep Emirates Old Trafford a safe and welcoming place for everyone!
