Joe Moores signs first full-time professional contract with Lancashire Cricket
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that England Under-19 international Joe Moores has signed his first full-time professional contract with the Club, committing his future to Emirates Old Trafford until the end of the 2027 season.
Moores’ new deal follows a short-term contract agreed during the 2025 campaign, which saw the highly rated wicketkeeper-batter make his professional debut in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
The 17-year-old from Macclesfield CC made four appearances in the competition, with a top score of 35 from just 21 balls against Middlesex at Emirates Old Trafford in August.
A product of the Club’s age-group system, Moores is currently in the Caribbean with England's Under-19s squad as they prepare for January’s World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
In 21 appearances for the Young Lions, Moores has struck three half-centuries and taken 26 dismissals with the gloves.

Joe Moores said: “It’s a really proud moment for me and my family. I’ve dreamed of playing professional cricket for Lancashire since I was a kid, so to sign a long-term deal means a lot.
“Making my debut this year only made me hungrier to work harder, learn from the senior players, and contribute to the Club’s success. I’m grateful to the coaching staff for the opportunity and I can’t wait for what’s ahead.”

Head Coach Steven Croft commented: “Joe has shown a lot of promise over the last couple of years and has taken every challenge in his stride from Academy and Second XI to being around the First Team.
“His short-term deal last season gave him an early taste of First Team cricket in the One Day Cup, and he impressed everyone with his attitude, professionalism, and skill.
“He’s an exciting young cricketer with a bright future, and we’re looking forward to helping him continue his development with us at Emirates Old Trafford over the next few years.”
