Josh Boyden signs contract extension with Lancashire
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that young left-arm seamer Josh Boyden has signed a one-year contract extension to keep him at Emirates Old Trafford for the 2025 season.
20-year-old Boyden made his professional debut for the Club last summer in the County Championship match away to Surrey at the Oval before making a further three appearances in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup and taking six wickets at an average of 18.
The former England Under-19 international has progressed through the Lancashire age-groups and made his second-team debut in 2020 before signing his first professional contract in July 2022.
It came shortly after Boyden had starred at the Under-19 World Cup as England reached the final in the Caribbean with the left-armer claiming 15 wickets in six appearances.
Speaking about his contract extension with the Club, Boyden said: “I am pleased to extend my contract with Lancashire after a really positive summer which led to me making my professional debut and taking my first senior wickets.
“It was a really proud moment for me and my family to make my senior debut in two formats last season and it was really pleasing to be able to make a positive impact in the One-Day Cup.
“I am looking forward to getting a good pre-season under my belt, building on the progression of last season by featuring more regularly in the first team and staying injury free.”
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton also commented on the news: “Josh earned this extension by putting in some promising performances with the ball during the One-Day Cup last summer.
“He has worked hard to overcome his injury issues over the last couple of years and we are looking to see him continue to progress, expand his skillset with the ball and stake a claim to play more regular first team cricket this season.
“Josh provides us with a left-arm seam option and has the ability to swing the ball into the right-hander, while he also works on hard on his skills with the bat and provides a useful option down the order.”
