Lancashire Cricket make festive visit to The Christie

Lancashire Cricket made a special festive visit to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, the largest single-site cancer centre in Europe this week.

Players and coaches from the Club’s men’s squad spent Monday afternoon meeting patients, families, and frontline staff to offer support and bring a touch of holiday spirit to the hospital.

The visit included time with teenage and young adult patients receiving chemotherapy and in the wating rooms where players spoke with patients undergoing treatment, took photos and handed out Christmas gifts from Lancashire Cricket. The visit was organised by The Christie Charity which supports the work of the hospital.

Members of the squad also met with staff from across the hospital, who look after more than 60,000 patients per year, to learn more about more about their incredible work and dedication.

Steven Croft, Men’s Head Coach said: “It’s incredibly important for us as a Club to give back to our community, especially at this time of year. The Christie provides amazing care and support to so many people across the north west, and we were honoured to spend time with the patients and staff. We hope our visit brought a little festive cheer to everyone we met.”

Louise Hadley, CEO of The Christie Charity, said: “We were delighted to host a visit from Lancashire Cricket. This time of year can be very difficult for patients and so a visit such as this can really lift their spirits. Our colleagues in the hospital work incredibly hard and so they appreciate the team taking the time to come and see the fantastic effort they put in for patients and their families.”

Lancashire Cricket would like to wish all patients, families, and staff at The Christie and The Christie Charity a Merry Christmas.

The Club also thanks Tesco Handforth Dean for their donation of chocolate selection boxes for the visit.
