Lancashire Women sign Ireland captain Gaby Lewis
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Ireland Women’s captain Gaby Lewis for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Lewis, one of the most accomplished batters in the women’s game, brings a wealth of international experience to Emirates Old Trafford, having represented her country more than 150 times.
The 24-year-old will strengthen Lancashire’s batting line-up, during the final stages of the Women’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup competition, as the Red Rose look to secure qualification to the last four.
Since making her international debut at just 13 years old, Lewis has amassed over 3,500 runs in international cricket, including 2,300 in T20Is and 1,200 in ODIs, with two centuries and 18 half-centuries across formats.
Lewis is also Ireland’s leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is, and in 2021 she became the first Irish woman to score a T20I century, hitting an unbeaten 105* against Germany.
David Thorley, Director of Women’s Cricket, commented: “We're looking for someone to come in, hit the ground running and bolster the top order - and I think with Gaby there's not many more experienced international players out there than her. So, we're really looking forward to her joining us.
“She's just had a good spell with the European (T20 World Cup) Qualifiers and a series before that against Zimbabwe, so she's in good form.
“We actually agreed to sign her a couple of seasons ago, but she got injured. So, it feels good that it is going to happen now and she will pull on the Red Rose for the rest of the season.”
Lewis arrived at Emirates Old Trafford earlier this week and will be available for selection for Thursday’s match against Somerset in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
