LancsTV interview - Pride T20 Fixture

Mersey Rose player Andi Page and Out4Cricket’s Lachlan Smith joined Lancashire Cricket’s Tom Kent (Head of People) and Helen Davies (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead) for a conversation in the LancsTV studio ahead of the Club’s inaugural Pride fixture last month.

Lancashire’s Vitality Blast double-header against The Blaze and Notts Outlaws on 31 May marked the Club’s first-ever Pride Game - a celebration of LGBTQ+ inclusion in cricket. The fixture aimed to unite fans and reaffirm that cricket is a game for everyone.

During the conversation, the group reflected on the growth and development of their respective clubs and organisations, emphasising the importance of creating inclusive, welcoming environments across all levels of the sport.

Andi shared the origins of Mersey Rose Recreationals and spoke passionately about the need to transform club culture, ensuring that LGBTQ+ individuals feel safe, accepted and free to be their authentic selves on and off the pitch.

Lancashire Cricket extends its thanks to Andi and Lachlan for sharing their experiences so openly and offering valuable insight into how clubs and organisations, particularly in sport, can better support the LGBTQ+ community.
