LIVE BLOG: Lancashire v Northamptonshire, Day Three

6.03pm CLOSE Day 3
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 125-2 trail by 143 runs, Bohannon 67 Phillip 0
Anderson Phillip sees out the last over, surviving for 28 balls to be returning to the crease tomorrow.

Josh Bohannon has batted beautifully for his unbeaten 67.

5.25pm WICKET
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 120-2 trail by 148 runs, Bohannon 61 Phillip 0
Keaton Jennings gets a faint edge to Calvin Harrison and is caught behind for 49, a big blow for Lancashire.

Anderson Phillip is at the crease to reprise his nightwatchman role from yesterday. There are 6 overs left for him to survive today.

5.25pm
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 103-1 trail by 165 runs, Jennings 35 Bohannon 59
Josh Bohannon reached his half century off 146 balls and he has batted with great determination while his 7 fours included a lovely, wristy flick of the wrists to send a Harrison delivery to the midwicket fence.

4.55pm
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 75-1 trail by 193 runs, Jennings 22 Bohannon 29
There are 18 overs left today and Lancashire are chipping away at the runs deficit but more importantly they have not lost any further wickets after that early dismissal of Michael Jones.

4.20pm
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 55-1 trail by 213 runs, Jennings 22 Bohannon 29
Steady progress by Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon with Northants going with left arm pace bowler Liam Guthrie and leg spinner Calvin Harrison since tea.

3.40pm, TEA Day 3
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 45-1 trail by 223 runs, Jennings 15 Bohannon 18
Lancashire reach the interval without any further damage. Some good, steady batting by Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon.

3.20pm
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 33-1 trail by 235 runs, Jennings 15 Bohannon 18
Josh Bohannon has played a couple of lovely shots for four off Justin Broad; first a drive through cover and later a pull to the midwicket fence.

2.45pm
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 13-1 trail by 255 runs, Jennings 5 Bohannon 8
Josh Bohannon drives Luke Procter straight and the bowler may regret stopping the ball with his boot after it hits his ankle instead. But the Northants skipper gives it a rub and continues, no doubt buoyed by his side being well on top at present.

2.17pm WICKET
Lancashire 2nd inns (following-on) 0-1 trail by 268 runs, Jennings 0 Bohannon 0
Northants make a dream start after enforcing the follow on.

Left arm paceman Liam Guthrie swings on into the pads of Michael Jones who is lbw for 0.

Slightly cloudier conditions as we start the afternoon but the weather remains dry and looks fairly settled.

2.02pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 228 all out (82.1 overs) trail by 268 runs
Tom Bailey pulls Justin Broad high to George Bartlett at long leg to end the innings. Broad finishes with 3-58 and Calvin Harrison 4-34.

2.00pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 228-9 (81.4 overs) trail by 268 runs, Bailey 8 Turner 0
Tom Hartley goes for 8, pulling a short ball from Calvin Harrison to George Bartlett at midwicket.

1.01pm LUNCH Day 1
Lancashire 1st inns 217-8 (76 overs) trail by 279 runs, Hartley 1 Bailey 4
That was a disastrous spell just before lunch for Lancashire with 3 wickets lost for 5 runs in 19 balls, leaving the follow-on looking much more likely this afternoon.

12.57pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 212-8 (74.2 overs) trail by 284 runs, Hartley 0 Bailey 0
Saib Zaib is having some morning! The left arm spinner traps George Balderson lbw for 1 with his second ball.

12.54pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 212-7 (73.4 overs) trail by 284 runs, Balderson 1 Hartley 0
Keaton Jennings falls on 96 to a stunning one handed catch at midwicket by Saif Zaib off Raphy Weatherall. That looked a nailed-on four when Jennings hit it until Zaib plucked it out of the air. A big wicket for the visitors.

12.43pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 207-6 (71.1 overs) trail by 289 runs, Jennings 92 Balderson 0
That incident matters little as Luke Wells, on 20, attempts to repeat his slog/sweep off Calvin Harrison but top edges high to midwicket where Justin Broad takes a good running catch.

12.40pm
Lancashire 1st inns 207-5 (71 overs) trail by 289 runs, Jennings 92 Wells 20
A curious moment as Northants celebrate a catch off Luke Wells and form a congratulatory huddle. The umpires confer and agree it was a bump ball and not out.
In fairness Northants accept the decision and get on with the game.

12.24pm
Lancashire 1st inns 191-5 (66 overs) trail by 305 runs, Jennings 79 Wells 18
Luke Wells sweeps Calvin Harrison in front of square for a massive six to one of the longer boundaries over near the hotel.

12.10pm
Lancashire 1st inns 176-5 (62 overs) trail by 320 runs, Jennings 70 Wells 11
After bowling the four balls to complete his over from yesterday at the start of this morning, leg spinner Calvin Harrison returns at the James Anderson end.

Luke Wells has opened his account with two boundaries, edging Raphy Weatherall wide of slip but much more convincing when pulling Liam Guthrie to the backward square leg boundary.

11.50am WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 161-5 (57.3 overs) trail by 335 runs, Jennings 66 Wells 0
Matty Hurst departs after rather guiding a catch to Ricardo Vasconcelos at gully off a wide and shortish delivery from Raphy Weatherall for 16.

11.48am
Lancashire 1st inns 160-4 (57 overs) trail by 336 runs, Jennings 65 Hurst 16
Justin Broad has bowled the most eventful over of the day, bowling consecutive short deliveries to Matty Hurst that were both pulled for four between the two fielders on the fence. Broad then fires in a superb yorker that Hurst does well to dig out.

11.38am
Lancashire 1st inns 151-4 (55 overs) trail by 345 runs, Jennings 65 Hurst 7

11.06am
Lancashire 1st inns 140-4 (48 overs) trail by 356 runs, Jennings 61 Hurst 0

11.02am
Lancashire 1st inns 139-4 (46 overs) trail by 357 runs, Jennings 60 Hurst 0
Calvin Harrison completes his unfinished over from last night and now Justin Broad is running in from the Brian Statham end as we get this third day under way.

Lancashire's first target of the day is to reach 347 and avoid the follow-on.

9.30am
We have bright, dry conditions at Emirates Old Trafford ahead of the third day of our Rothesay County Championship match against Northamptonshire.

Play will start on time at 11am with Lancashire resuming their first innings on 139-4 in reply to Northamptonshire's 496.
