That has been a good day for Lancashire who have the advantage after two days.

And great to see Jimmy Anderson back taking wickets!

Luke Wells wheels away in celebration after Harry Came is bowled for 31 offering no shot.

That's a big wicket with 4 overs left today. Jack Morley comes in as nightwatchman.

Harry Came and Brooke Guest are playing carefully as they try to build a partnership. George Balderson and Tom Hartley are hunting for a further breakthrough.

Tom Hartley has his first wicket as Wayne Madsen edges a cut behind that is well caught by Matty Hurst. He's gone for 14 and Lancashire's good day continues.

James Anderson's first spell back was 5-1-24-2 and he's been replaced by Anderson Phillip. 

Tom Hartley is operating from the opposite end having come on as early as the 9th over.

Jimmy, Jimmy! Anderson strikes again, having bowled several shortish deliveries to David Lloyd this one hits a glove and loops up to Matty Hurst behind the stumps. The Derbyshire opener is out for 27.

Derbyshire's openers have been are dealing purely in boundaries so far but David Lloyd top edges a pull of James Anderson for four and the bowler then produces a beauty later in the over to knock over the off stump of Caleb Jewell for 16.

He's back! That's wicket no. 1,127.

James Anderson, who got a great reception when he came out to bat, receives another as he starts the first over of the Derbyshire innings from - you gueesed it - the James Anderson end.

David Lloyd drives his second ball for four but defends three deliveries and leaves a couple alone.

Tom Bailey is sharing the new ball duties and there will be a minimum of 36 overs in this session.

James Anderson sweeps Jack Morley for four but only gets to face 4 balls as anderson Phillip is caught behind at the start of the following over.

Tom Bailey is out for 29 to an astonishing one-handed catch at short extra cover by Caleb Jewell off jack Morley. Outstanding.

James Anderson gets a great ovation as he comes out to bat.

Tom Hartley drives Martin Andersson for four through the covers but the bowler hits back next ball when Hartley's attempted pull off a bouncer dollies back to the bowler. He's out for a very useful 42.

Tom Hartley drives Martin Andersson off the back foot for four to bring up the 50 partnership from 111 balls and also pass the landmark of 1,000 first-class runs.

We've moved on from the two Georges to the two Toms - Hartley and Bailey - who have taken Lancashire on past the 400-mark. The two Anderson's will be along later.

George Bell and Tom Hartley have come out after lunch showing good intent, Hartley thumping a couple of boundaries.

But Bell departs for a season-best 57 after edging his drive off David Lloyd to Wayne Madsen at slip.

That has been a good morning for Lancashire and for George Bell who is unbeaten on 55 at the break.

George Balderson was excellent for his 73 and Lancashire have added 130 runs in 32 overs today.

Derbyshire finally have a wicket and George Balderson is a bit unlucky getting a big inside edge onto his stumps after making 73 with former Lancs spinner Jack Morley the man making the breakthrough.

That has been a fabulous effort by Balderson this morning.

Blue skies and bright sunshine now as we head towards lunch with Georges Bell and Balderson going along nicely. Their partnership is now the highest 6th wicket stand for Lancashire v Derbyshire at Emirates Old Trafford beating the 119 between Archie MacLaren and Jack Sharp in 1903.

George Bell pushes the single that brings up his first fifty of the season, off 101 balls with 6 fours.

George Balderson hits the first three deliveries of the 110th over from Zak Chappell for four and that ends the bonus points in this innings. Lancashire get 2 points and Derbyshire 1.

George Bell punches a square drive off Zak Chappell to the boundary to bring up the 300 and a second batting point before following that with a nicely timed drive through cover for four more.

This has been an encouragingly positive start to the day by these two.

We have dry but cloudy conditions at Emirates Old Trafford ahead of the second day of our Rothesay County Championship match with Derbyshire.

Play is set to start at 11am when Lancashire will resume their first innings on 250-5 with George Bell 4 not out and George Balderson 1 not out.
