Luke Wood signs three-year white ball contract with Lancashire Cricket
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that fast bowler Luke Wood has signed a new white ball contract with the Club, keeping him at Emirates Old Trafford until the end of the 2028 season.
The agreement will run alongside Wood’s England central contract for the 2026 season, ensuring he remains available to represent Lancashire Lightning in the Vitality Blast when released by the ECB around international commitments.
Wood, who first joined Lancashire in 2020, has become a key figure in the Club’s T20 setup, known for his left-arm pace and high impact wickets in the opening overs.
In 72 appearances for Lancashire Lightning in the Vitality Blast, the 30-year-old has taken 84 wickets at an average of 23 and a strike rate of just 17.
His performances have earned him England recognition on 17 occasions in T20Is and ODIs; securing a central contract for 2026.
The announcement comes on the same day the 2026 Vitality Blast fixtures are released, offering supporters their first look at next summer’s schedule as Lancashire Lightning start with a blockbuster clash against Surrey at the Kia Oval on Friday 22 May.

Luke Wood said: “I’m really pleased to sign this new deal with Lancashire. The Club has played a massive role in my development, and I’m excited to continue being part of what is a really ambitious and talented squad.
“Playing for England is a huge honour, but Lancashire feels like home for me now, and to have clarity over the next few years is brilliant. I love playing in the Vitality Blast, and I can’t wait to get back out at Emirates Old Trafford in front of our supporters again next summer.
“Having reached three Finals Days during my time at the Club, it feels like we are really close to success in the Vitality Blast, and it would be really special to achieve that with this group.”

Mark Chilton, Director of Cricket Performance, commented: “We are extremely pleased that Luke has committed his future to Lancashire. He has been an important part of our Vitality Blast programme, and his progression to international cricket is something the whole Club is very proud of.
“This contract gives structure for both Luke and the Club around England availability, and ensures that when he is available, he will continue to be an integral part of our Vitality Blast campaign.
“Luke’s experience and impact with the white ball makes him an important asset for Lancashire, and we are looking forward to seeing him continue to perform at Emirates Old Trafford over the coming seasons.”
