Marcus Harris signs with Lancashire until the end of 2027
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that Australian top-order batter Marcus Harris has committed his future to the Club by signing a contract until the end of the 2027 season.
The 32-year-old initially signed for the Rothesay County Championship and Metro Bank One-Day Cup competitions in 2025 but will now extend his stay at Emirates Old Trafford by a further two seasons.
Harris has enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2025 season, and he is currently the leading scorer, across both Divisions of the County Championship, with 825 runs at an average of 63.
The Perth-born batter has already scored three centuries and three half-centuries this season, from just 14 innings for the Club, and was recently named as interim captain in the County Championship.
Harris – who has made 14 Test Match appearances for Australia – has a strong career record in First-Class cricket, averaging just shy of 40 from over 300 innings, with 32 centuries.
Speaking about the news, Marcus Harris said: “I have loved the start of my time with Lancashire, and I am really pleased to extend my contract at Emirates Old Trafford by a further two years.
“It was a great honour to be asked to lead the Red Rose in four-day cricket and I hope that I can continue to make positive contributions, both with the bat and as a leader on the field.
“The start to this season hasn’t been what we all would have wanted, but we are determined to put things right in the County Championship when we next take to the field at the end of June.”
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton added: “Marcus has made a tremendous impact with the sheer volume of runs that he has scored during the first two months of the season.
“He is also a great character and leader which is why we made the decision for him to take over the captaincy in four-day cricket and we are really pleased that he will be here longer-term.
“Having Marcus signed up for the next two seasons after this one allows us to have to continuity and consistency and means we are able to plan further ahead knowing he will be here with us.”
