Phoebe Graham announces retirement from professional cricket

Lancashire Cricket can today confirm that fast bowler Phoebe Graham has announced her retirement from professional cricket.

Graham joined Lancashire from Yorkshire ahead of the 2022 season, becoming one of the Club’s first full-time contracted women’s players.

Since then, she has been a key member of the Lancashire Women’s squad and an influential figure during a period of transformation in the women’s game.

While stepping away from competitive cricket, Graham will remain with Lancashire Cricket, taking on a new part-time role focused on leading the Club’s Early Engagement Programme in the girls’ pathway alongside working on her own business ‘TipnFlip’ - a gender equality agency which progressively drives women’s sport forward.

In all List A and T20 cricket, she took 116 wickets from 155 appearances. She went beyond the 100-wicket mark whilst in Red Rose colours during the 2024 season.

In her final season as a professional, Graham played an instrumental role on and off the field which helped lead Lancashire to a domestic double.

Speaking about her retirement to LancsTV, Phoebe Graham said: “I've decided that at the end of five years of being a professional cricketer, it's time to step away from the pitch.

“With Lancashire winning the double this year, it feels like the perfect time to finish my playing career and move on to the next chapter.

“It’s been really special to be part of this journey with Red Rose and to see women's cricket moving absolute mountains in the last five years to ten years.

“I'm now excited for the next chapter of my career and to see what impact I can make off the pitch.”

Director of Women’s Cricket, David Thorley, commented: “Since arriving at Emirates Old Trafford ahead of the 2022 season, Phoebe has been a brilliant team player and someone who has always set high standards both in training and in matches.

“We are sad to see her playing career come to an end, but we are delighted that she will continue to be part of the Club and remain involved by leading our new Early Engagement Programme. Her knowledge, passion and experience will be invaluable for the young players coming through our system.

“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I’d like to thank Phoebe for her dedication and professionalism during her time with Lancashire Cricket and congratulate her on a fantastic playing career.”
