Remembering Tony Good (1952-2025)

Lancashire Cricket was saddened to learn of the recent death of former player Tony Good.

Tony was a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler who made his first-class debut for Lancashire against Gloucestershire at Old Trafford in 1973 but had to wait until 1975 for his second appearance with opportunities limited behind England duo Peter Lever and Ken Shuttleworth as well as the prolific Peter Lee. He played six of his eight first-class games in 1976 taking a career-best 5-62 against Northamptonshire at Old Trafford and in the same season made five of his six List A appearances for Lancashire.

He left Lancashire at the end of the 1976 season and proceeded to join Cheshire playing nine games in the Minor Counties Championship between 1977-79 taking a best of 6-38 against Durham at Northwich. He also played for the Minor Counties side in the Benson & Hedges Cup taking a best of 3-21 against Northamptonshire at Northampton In 1978.

Tony was a regular visitor to the Lancashire Former Players Days at Emirates Old Trafford.

Rest in peace, Tony.
