SECOND XI REPORT: Yorkshire T20 match finishes as a No Result game due to rain
Only one hundred balls were bowled at Headingley after rain ruined today’s T20 double header between Yorkshire and Lancashire.
The only action possible was in the first game, a North Group contest in the Second XI T20 competition, where Yorkshire had made 128-3 from 16.4 overs before rain forced the players off.
Jonny Tattersall and Noah Kelly took 27 runs off the first 25 balls before Tattersall had his off stump uprooted by Jack Blatherwick after making 17 off 16 balls.
Kelly and Will Luxton hit out to good effect in adding 52 from 28 balls with Yorkshire skipper Luxton straight driving Charlie Barnard for six at the start of the 9th over.
Barnard hit back five balls later pushing one wider that was missed by Kelly and nicely stumped by Henry Murray, the left hand batter out for 21 off 23 balls with Yorkshire 81-2.
James Wharton was caught by Michael Jones at deep extra cover for 10 in the 12th over to give Barnard a second wicket, the left arm spinner finishing with 2-25 from his 4 overs.
Luxton reached his half century off 32 balls (1 six, 5 fours) and was unbeaten on 59 alongside Harry Duke (11 not out) when the rain ended play at 12.34pm with the game finally abandoned at just before 3pm.
The second game, a T20 friendly, was called off at the same time with rain falling steadily.
The result leaves Lancashire with 9 points from 5 games at the halfway stage of the group stages.
