Stephen Parry leaves Lancashire to become Essex Women’s Head Coach

Lancashire Cricket can confirm that Stephen Parry will leave his role as Assistant Head Coach of Lancashire Women to take up the position of Head Coach at Essex Women.

Parry’s departure marks the end of a long association with Lancashire, having represented Lancashire Men as a player for 16 years after first joining the Academy in 2004 and making 231 first team appearances across all formats.

Since joining Lancashire Women as Assistant Head Coach ahead of the 2021 season, Parry has played a key role - initially alongside Paul Shaw and then Chris Read - during the professional era for Lancashire Women leading to last season’s double trophy success.

Speaking about his departure, Stephen Parry said: “Leaving Lancashire is a difficult decision because the Club has been such a big part of my life, both as a player and a coach. But I leave proud of the progress that the women’s set-up has made in recent years, leading to the success we enjoyed together this year.

“The chance to take on a Head Coach role is an exciting next step in my coaching journey, and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead at Essex.

“I would like to thank the players, staff, and supporters for all of their support throughout my time at Emirates Old Trafford.”

Director of Women’s Cricket David Thorley commented: “Stephen has played a significant part in the development of women’s cricket at Lancashire. His passion for the game is infectious, and he has had a lasting impact on the players he has come across during his five seasons with us.

“While we are sad to see Stephen move on, we are equally pleased that he is taking the next step in his coaching career. Essex are gaining an outstanding coach and person.

“On behalf of everyone at Lancashire Cricket, I would like to thank Stephen for his dedication and service to the Club and wish him every success in his new role.”
