Threlkeld and Morris sign contract extensions with Lancashire Women

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that Women’s captain Ellie Threlkeld and all-rounder Fi Morris have both signed contract extensions ahead of the new season.

The pair have committed their futures to Emirates Old Trafford until at least the end of the 2026 season with the new Tier 1 domestic structure set to begin this summer.

Threlkeld, 26, has been captain of the Red Rose since 2022 after progressing through the Club’s age-group system from Under-13s and making her senior debut – aged 14 – in July 2023.

In all women’s List A and T20 cricket, Threlkeld has made 225 career appearances, including an appearance in every professional match for Lancashire since the start of the Kia Super League in 2016.

She was named as Thunder’s One-Day Player of the Year for two years running, in 2022 and 2023 - the former being her first as captain and also scored her first century for the Club during 2023 – a 107 not out off 115 balls to seal victory over Western Storm at Emirates Old Trafford.

Spin bowling all-rounder Morris, 31, arrived at Emirates Old Trafford ahead of 2023, and she ended that campaign as Lancashire Thunder’s Player of the Year and the T20 Player of the Year.

In 23 appearances for Lancashire that season, she hit 396 runs with one fifty and took 19 wickets. That haul included 209 runs and seven wickets in the Charlotte Edwards T20 Cup – as the Red Rose reached Finals Day.

In 2024, Morris impressed again, posting 523 runs from 25 matches and claimed 29 wickets as she closes in on 250 senior career appearances following spells across Southern Vipers, Western Storm, Southern Brave and Lancashire, in addition to Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

Speaking about the new contracts, Women’s Director of Cricket David Thorley said: “We are thrilled to have tied down two of our most senior players and consistent performers in Ellie and Fi.

“It is going to be an important two years as we settle into the new Tier 1 system for women’s domestic cricket, and we are really pleased that they will both play a key part in that for us.

“Ellie has led the side impressively during the last couple of years while Fi has been outstanding with both bat and ball since arriving ahead of the 2023 season.”

Lancashire Women will start the new season tomorrow (23 April) when they take on The Blaze at Trent Bridge in the first match of the new Tier 1 Metro Bank Women’s One-Day Cup.
