Scarlett Anderson's 150 lights up the first round of the Thunder Cup.
Ramsbottom beat Edgworth by 123 runs, thanks in main to an outstanding 150 from Lancashire U16's Scarlett Anderson. Edgworth's young seam attack of Eve Murray and Umaiza Basharat took 5 wickets. Edgworth started the chase of 311 well, with Thunder's Alice Clarke making 75 and Amy Kelly making 28. But the leg spin duo of Venus Weerappuli (10-1-54-5) and Shriya Pindoria (9-1-12-4) put pay to the run chase taking 9 wickets between them.
Stockport Georgians beat Didsbury by 7 wickets. The Stockport seam attack started well but the spin of Amelia Batey took four key wickets in restricting Didsbury to 107 all out. Hannah Jones tried her best to ensure they got to a good target with 53 from 43 balls but fell to the bowling of Neve Boon. Stockport's captain Tess Bailey made light work of the chase scoring 46.
Leigh beat Sefton Park by 6 wickets in the battle of the Liverpool competition clubs. Sefton Park posted a reasonable 209/9 with Abbie Wright (41*) and Sarah Culloty (36) making good contributions. Kasey Bentham was outstanding with the new ball taking 3 early wickets (6-3-4-3). In Leigh's reply, Lucy Page starred with the bat scoring 72 assisted by Thunder Academy's Olivia Brinsden with 56.
Lindow beat Leyland by 77 runs in a high scoring game at Fox Lane. Lindow scored an impressive 258-9 with Academy opening batter Tilly Kesteven scoring 66 and Lindow's overseas Holly Topp adding 41. Leyland's young attack kept on taking wickets with seamers Izzy Cordingley and Lowri Whittaker being the pick of the bowlers. Leyland's reply got off to a quick start with Charlotte Whittaker (25) and Olivia Cunliffe (20) putting on 47 for the first wicket. Unfortunately for Leyland they kept on losing wickets and finished 77 runs short.
