Winter Watch: Lancashire Men
Lancashire Men are in overseas action throughout the winter with several members of the squad playing international, franchise and club cricket around the world.
Lancashire currently have three players out in New Zealand with England’s white ball squad. Jos Buttler and Luke Wood are in both the IT20 and ODI squads, with Phil Salt in the IT20 squad. England lead the three-match IT20 series 1-0, with one match left to play, while the ODI series starts on 26 October.
In franchise cricket, Salt and Liam Livingstone will both play for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 which will take place between 2 December and 4 January, while Wood will represent Adelaide Strikers in the 25/26 edition of Australia’s Big Bash League. Buttler will play for Durban’s Super Giants in South Africa's SA20 competition during December and January, with Saqib Mahmood being signed by Pretoria Capitals.
Salt (Delhi Bulls) and Livingstone (Quetta Qavalry) are joined by Tom Aspinwall (Ajman Titans) and Matty Hurst (Aspin Stallions) in the Abu Dhabi T10 League which runs from 18-30 November. Aspinwall is also set to represent England at the upcoming Hong Kong 6s.
Tom Hartley and Mitch Stanley are both set to fly out to Australia with the England Lions squad at the beginning of November. The Lions will shadow the Ashes squad and will play a multi-day warm-up fixture against England in Perth, starting on 13 November. Following that the Lions will face a Cricket Australia XI, before completing their tour with a match against Australia A in Brisbane.
Staying Down Under, Charlie Barnard and Kesh Fonseka are both spending a full winter in Australia as they play grade-cricket for Joondalup Districts CC in Perth and North Hobart CC in Tasmania respectively.
Joe Moores has been named in England U19s squad for their tour of the Caribbean in November. The Young Lions will play seven Youth ODIs against West Indies in Grenada. The matches will provide preparation ahead of the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup, which is to be staged in Namibia and Zimbabwe in early 2026.
The rest of the Lancashire Men’s squad who are remaining in the UK this winter will return to Emirates Old Trafford to start a winter training programme on Monday 10 November.
