Player Profile

Shachi Pai returned home to represent Thunder in 2022 having previously played her regional cricket for the Loughborough-based Lightning team.

Born in Mumbai, Pai grew up in Bolton and studied at Loughborough University.

The all-rounder, a middle order batter and a seamer, was part of the Lancashire team which famously won the T20 and one-day double in the 2017 summer.

She has also played senior county cricket for Cumbria, Derbyshire and, at the start of 2022, the Northern Representative XI.

Pai, 25-years-old, played age-group cricket for Nottinghamshire Under 13s and 15s as well as for the Red Rose Under 15s and 17s.

She played first-team Bolton League cricket for Astley Bridge in 2013.

She played 13 times for Thunder in her first season back at Emirates Old Trafford, including friendlies. She hit a trio of forties with the bat, including 41 not out from number six in a July defeat to eventual Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy defeat to Northern Diamonds at Sale.

That was her career best score in all women’s List A cricket and T20 cricket to date.

Pai did not make a competitive appearance for Thunder in 2023, though did play half a dozen friendlies.

In December, she was part of the England National Counties Cricket Association XI who won the inaugural European Championship women’s T10 title in Malaga.

Pai combines her playing commitments by working as a sales and hospitality co-ordinator at Emirates Old Trafford.
