Player Profile
Emerging Australian fast bowler Mitch Perry will start the 2026 summer on an overseas deal with Lancashire, aiming to get the county’s promotion push in the Rothesay County Championship off to a flyer.
Perry, 25-years-old, will be available for the opening block of Championship matches in April and May.
In recent years, the new-ball seamer has played an integral part in Victoria’s bid for state honours, and there is every chance that he will arrive at Emirates Old Trafford with 150 first-class wickets to his name.
At time of writing, in mid-January, he had 140 to his name from 49 matches since debuting in late 2020. He has a trio of five-wicket hauls to his name.
Perry has represented Australia at Under 19s and A level.
Perry is a tall right-armer with good pace and skill - he bats left-handed - and has taken 22 wickets in five Sheffield Shield appearances for the Vics this season. That puts him joint second on the competition’s leading wicket-taker’s list.
He came through Victoria’s age-group set-up and initially made his debut for them in one-day cricket in late 2019. Just under a year later, he made his maiden first-class appearance and took the new ball alongside Scott Boland.
Prior to Christmas just gone, he played a couple of times in the Big Bash for Sydney Sixers. He has played only a handful of T20 and one-day matches throughout his career.
One of his early first-class wickets was Steve Smith, and it gives you an idea of the skill he possesses that there’s a Youtube video of the dismissal entitled ‘Third-gamer Perry’s elite build-up to Smith wicket’.
This spell will give Perry his first taste of county cricket.
