Player Profile

Gaby Lewis = Superstar.

There certainly won’t be many who watched her stunning 141 not out off 143 balls in last September’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup final victory over Hampshire at Southampton disagreeing with such a statement.

Lewis had only just arrived at Emirates Old Trafford, on loan for the latter stages of the 50-over season.

And the Ireland captain without doubt made her mark.

In five One-Day Cup innings, right-handed Lewis opened the batting and posted scores of 8, 39, 75, 9 and that aforementioned 141. The latter saw the Red Rose chase down a 289-target when it mattered most.

She shared a second-wicket partnership of 144 with Seren Smale.

The Lancashire hierarchy had previously chased Lewis’s signature, only for it to fall through at the last minute.

It was absolutely no surprise when, ahead of 2026, the county announced that the 25-year-old Dubliner had re-signed as an overseas player for their One-Day Cup title defence.

Lewis comes from a cricketing family. Her father David and grandfather William have both represented Ireland, as has her older sister Robyn.

However, none made the impact Gaby has.

She has played 176 times for her country in both ODI and T20I cricket since debuting in September 2014 as a 13-year-old.

Lewis is a whisker away away from 4,000 all-format international runs, a haul which includes a pair of T20 centuries.

Lewis has previously represented Southern Vipers in the regional era and has played for Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.

She played age-group cricket for Ireland and has also featured for Barbados Royals (2023) in the Caribbean Premier League T20 competition.

Lewis - aged 23 at the time - took over as Ireland captain in October 2024, succeeding Laura Delany, a former Lancashire Thunder overseas player.

At the start of 2026, Lewis helped Ireland qualify for this summer’s T20 World Cup in England, their fifth appearance at that stage added to five outings at 50-over World Cups.

Ireland had to come through a qualifying event in Nepal, and Lewis was the leading run-scorer in the competition with 276 runs from seven matches, including a best of 73.

On Saturday June 13, Ireland will face Scotland in a group stage match at Emirates Old Trafford. Lewis will walk out at her adopted home ground and could face Lancashire team-mates Olivia Bell, Darcey Carter and Ailsa Lister.

In all List A and T20 cricket, Lewis has scored 8,758 runs in 304 appearances.

That unbeaten 141 for Lancashire against Hampshire last September represents a career best score out of nine centuries.
