A letter from Mike Watkinson to Lancashire Members
Dear Members,
Firstly, I would like to thank you for voting me onto the Board of Lancashire Cricket. Having been a player, captain, coach and director of this Club, it is a privilege to serve Lancashire in this new capacity. One of the reasons I wanted to join the Board was to help strengthen the connection between members and the Club's leadership.
Today, we are publishing the findings of the Member Engagement Review, together with the actions the Board has committed to take in response.
I would like to apologise that the findings have not been shared sooner. The Board felt it was important not only to understand the feedback that members provided, but also to develop a clear plan of action before reporting back. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the survey and focus groups. Nearly 1,000 members contributed their views, providing invaluable insight into what matters most to our membership.
The review found that members are deeply passionate about Lancashire Cricket and proud to be part of the Club. The consistent message was that members want greater clarity and open communication.
The review identified four clear priorities for improvement:
- Communicate our strategy for Lancashire Cricket
- Build trust and transparency
- Strengthen member voice and governance
- Continue improving the member experience
Members told us that they care most about cricket. With that in mind, one of our immediate priorities is to improve communication around cricket. In the coming days, members will receive a clear and concise cricket vision, setting out our ambitions and priorities for delivering sustainable success on the field.
Like you, I care deeply about this Club and its future. Lancashire Cricket has been a huge part of my life, and I remain as passionate as ever about seeing the Club succeed. The Board is committed to building stronger relationships with members through open communication, greater transparency and meaningful engagement.
This review is not an end point. It is the beginning of an ongoing commitment to listen, act and communicate more effectively. I look forward to representing your views on the Board and ensuring that members continue to play an important role in shaping the future of Lancashire Cricket.
