Thunder Academy donates to Every Month Campaign

Thunder Academy donates to Every Month Campaign

Representatives from Every Month Campaign were at Emirates Old Trafford this week to collect donations following a charitable initiative driven by Thunder’s Academy players.

With support from the Thunder First Team, the Academy players have donated three large boxes of sanitary products as well as a cheque for £1,000 to help continue the work of Every Month Campaign.

Every Month Campaign delivers sanitary products and toiletry items to people in our local area who would otherwise struggle to access such essentials.

The donations follows a campaign by the Thunder players – which also included a sponsored walk to raise additional funds – with the aim of increasing awareness around taboo subjects, particularly the impact which periods have upon female cricketers and sportswomen in general.

Speaking about the impact of the donation, Ashleigh Davison from Every Month Campaign said: “I just want to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to the Thunder Academy players and staff for the amazing fundraising and collections they have taken part in.

“With the monetary donation and the packs and chocolates, we estimate that the girls will have contributed to creating around 800 packs.

“That means that they will have helped over 800 people in Greater Manchester have access to a safe and hygienic period this month. The team should be really proud of their community spirit.”

Jen Barden, Thunder’s Senior Talent Manager, added: “This is an issue which the girls all feel passionately about, and it has been great to see them commit to a team fundraising exercise to assist Every Month Campaign with their work.

“We were delighted to welcome representatives from Every Month down to training to collect the donations and we look forward to continuing to work alongside them in the future to help make an important difference.

“We are proud to offer and support our Academy players with gaining wider experiences, leadership opportunities and developing broader skill sets away from just on-field cricket performance, as we know these aspects will enhance a players life-experience whilst in the Academy.”
