Open letter from Chris Peacock - December 2023

Open letter from Chris Peacock - December 2023

Dear Member,

In my final update of 2023, on behalf of the Club I would like to thank you all for your support throughout the year. It is greatly appreciated by everyone from the players and staff right through to the Board. I hope that all of those who attended enjoyed our annual Members’ Christmas Party in The Point – with some brilliant entertainment provided by legends of the Club – both past and present.

We would also like to thank everybody who has renewed their Membership so far ahead of the 2024 season, with a gentle reminder for those who are yet to do so, that if you buy now, you can receive instant International ticket access and 10% off by 31 December 2023.

It has been an exciting couple of weeks for the Club with the announcements of our new Thunder Head Coach Chris Read followed by our new men’s Head Coach Dale Benkenstein. We look forward to Chris and Dale leading us into an exciting new era and we will be doing all we can as a Board to support them in achieving their ambitions in the years to come.

As your Board representative, I would like to thank all of those of you who have reached out and got in touch with either myself or our Members’ Representative Group (MRG) this year. It is the aim of myself and the MRG to represent our Members at Board level and ensure your voice is heard. I can assure you the MRG has worked tirelessly in representing your views to the Club and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them in 2024.

We have recently had a very successful recruitment campaign for the MRG and there will be an election taking place at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Lancashire Cricket Members to vote on the candidates they would like to join the MRG as your democratically elected representatives. By keeping the recruitment process open during the entire season, I understand, we’ve seen the greatest interest in volunteering for the MRG to date and I want to continue this for next season. As such I am working with the existing members of the MRG and the Club Secretary to look at how we can continue this inclusive approach to recruitment next year, so we have more potential volunteers for the 2025 AGM for members to consider. Further information on the candidates, voting processes and the date of the AGM will be published in the new year.

I will look to share more updates with the MRG in the new year and ahead of the 2024 season but until then, please do get in touch with the group if you have any questions that you wish to raise. You can do this by emailing: MRGLancsCC@gmail.com.

Finally, I’ve received quite a few emails over the last couple of weeks regarding the future of the Hundred, as well as concerns from Members about external investment into Lancashire Cricket. Particularly given there is much speculation in the media on the topic, the Club thought it was important to give an update on this. Click here to watch a message from the Club’s Chair, Andy Anson, who gives an update on the discussions that have taken place with the ECB and what Lancashire Cricket’s position is on the relevant issues.

All that remains, is to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Kind regards,
Chris Peacock - Board Member (Member Services and Communications)
