Daniel Salpietro appointed new Men’s Second XI Coach
Lancashire Cricket can announce the appointment of Daniel Salpietro as the Club’s new Men’s Second XI Coach with immediate effect.
Born in Melbourne, Salpietro came through the ranks of Victoria's Under-19s and Under-23s sides and represented Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.
The 37-year-old has been working with the Club in a coaching consultancy role since 2024 and will now lead the Men’s Second XI on a full-time basis.

Salpietro replaces Karl Krikken who has been in the role since the 2021 season. Krikken – who stepped up to lead Lancashire to the One-Day Cup final in 2022 - will continue to support the coaching team, combined with a new role as Talent Identification Manager.
Speaking about his appointment, Daniel Salpietro said: “It’s a real privilege to step into the Second XI coaching role at a Club I’ve grown closely aligned with over the past two seasons.
“I’ve loved building strong relationships with our young athletes and the wider coaching team - that connection is what excites me most about this next step.
“Having worked across multiple environments within Lancashire Cricket, I’m looking forward to continuing that momentum and contributing even more to the development of our players.”

Director of Cricket Performance, Mark Chilton added: “Firstly I would like to congratulate Danny on his appointment into the role. He has hugely impressed during his coaching spells with the Club since the 2024 season and we are excited to see what he can now achieve with the Second XI and our young, developing players.
“I would also like to thank Karl for his outstanding contribution to this role since 2021. We are delighted that he has accepted an offer to become Talent Identification Manager, working across the whole programme while his support of the coaching staff at senior level will continue to be invaluable.”
