Derbyshire 1st inns 0-1 (1.3 overs) Caleb Jewell chops on to Mitch Stanley and Lancashire gran a wicket at the end of the day!

Paul Coughlin is last out, caught and bowled by Ben Aitchison for 29 trying to hit out.

There are two overs for Derbyshire to face this evening.

Mitch Stanley is lbw to Chappell for 10 with one run still needed for a third batting point.

Skipper Jimmy Anderson nudges his second delivery to scamper the run that brings up the 350!

That's something you don't see every day! Paul Coughlin hammers Muhammad Abbas for four through long off but is left holding just his bat handle. The rest of the bat flies back down the wicket just missing Mitch Stanley at the non strikers end!

This has been a good rally by Lancashire with 32 runs added for the ninth wicket so far.

Tom Bailey is on his way back to dressing room after being bowled for 1 by Shoaib Bashir, the fourth wicket for the leg spinner.

Derbyshire opt to take the new ball however and hand it to Muhammad Abbas.

Another wicket goes as Tom Hartley is bowled by Shoaib Bashir for 17. The new ball is due in over, and it will be interesting to see if Derbyshire opt to take it as the wickets continue to fall.

Paul Coughlin is now at the crease, making his Red Rose debut.

Matty Hurst is tempted into a drive by Anuj Dal but hits the ball straight into the hands of Matt Montgomery at mid-off for 32.

Tom Hartley pulls Zak Chappell over deep backward square for six to bring up the 300 and a second batting point!

Derbyshire take another wicket straight after tea as Michael Jones gives a return catch to bowler Shoaib Bashir, out for 44.

Marcus Harris is out for 125 in the last over before tea, edging Ben Aitchison to slip where Matt Montgomery takes a nice tumbling catch to end a fine innings by the Australian on his return to Emirates Old Trafford.

'Harry' hit two sixes, both off Shoaib Bashir, and 14 fours.

Michael Jones has got into his stride quickly, hitting 8 fours in reaching 42 not out off just 51 balls at the break.

His first game back and Marcus Harris has a century from 153 balls including 12 fours. Super stuff, Harry!

Marcus Harris upps the tempo with 3 consecutive fours off Anuj Dal, a leg side drive backward of square is followed by two nicely timed off drives. Harris then hits Shoaib Bashir for six over long-on the following over to go into the nineties. Superb batting!

Derbyshire make a much needed breakthrough as Shoaib Bashir bowls Josh Bohannon for 73 with his tenth delivery, the ball coming back into the batter who chops on. That ends an excellent 146-run partnership.

Josh Bohannon has driven Anuj Dal gloriously for four as he and Marcus Harris prosper in the afternoon sunshine.

Marcus Harris times a lovely on-drive for four back past the bowler Zak Chappell to reach his fifty from 91 balls, and that was his seventh four!

The century partnership arrived moments earlier, off 169 balls.

Josh Bohannon punches a back foot drive for four to go to his fifty straight after lunch. It came off 93 balls and contained 8 fours!

 

An update regarding the dropped catches mentioned earlier - during lunch we've established the edge by Marcus Harris dropped just short of carrying to Andersson at slip.

Josh Bohannon and Marcus Harris have prospered with a 77-run partnership to put Lancashire into a good position at the break, following the early loss of both Luke wells and Harry Singh.

Both have survived being dropped by Martin Andersson at third slip, Bohannon when on 14 and Harris shortly before lunch on 28.

Having steadied the innings, Josh Bohannon and Marcus Harris have made good, steady progress adding 47 runs since joining forces.

Early struggles for Lancashire after losing both openers cheaply. Josh Bohannon and Marcus Harris having to rebuild, and Harris has just clipped a lovely four through midwicket off Aitchison.

Derbyshire have announced an unchanged squad from their match against Worcestershire:
Harry Came (capt), Caleb Jewell, Matt Montgomery, Brooke Guest, Martin Andersson, Luis Reece, Anuj Dal, Zak Chappell, Ben Aitchison, Shoaib Bashir, Mohammad Abbas, Jack Morley, Aneurin Donald, Rory Haydon.

Club Captain Wayne Madsen has returned to training but will miss this fixture, with Harry Came continuing to lead the side in Madsen’s absence. Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, will also miss the game as he has travelled to Australia for his daughter’s wedding.
