Lancashire Cricket complete overseas signing of Ashton Turner

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce the overseas signing of Australian international Ashton Turner on a multi-format contract.

Turner will join Lancashire ahead of the 2025 Vitality Blast and will be available for the duration of the group stage, in addition to the Rothesay County Championship matches which take place during the Blast window.

The 31-year-old has spent the last three years representing Durham in the Vitality Blast, playing 36 matches – scoring 693 runs at an average of 33 and taking nine wickets with his right arm off breaks.

Turner is familiar with Emirates Old Trafford after making 13 appearances for Manchester Originals during the 2022 and 2023 editions of The Hundred.

He has successfully captained Perth Scorchers for several years in the Big Bash League and also represented Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.

In 212 T20 appearances across his career, Turner has scored over 3,000 runs at a strike rate above 140, including 16 half-centuries, and taken a further 34 wickets with the ball.

A tall and powerful all-rounder, Turner has played both formats of white ball cricket for Australia, making 28 international appearances for his country.

Turner also has a strong pedigree in First-Class cricket playing 54 career matches and scoring 2,786 runs, at an average of 36, including 13 half-centuries and five centuries.

Speaking about his move to Lancashire, Ashton Turner said: “To have the opportunity to join one of the biggest county cricket clubs in England is a really exciting one for me.

“Emirates Old Trafford is a stadium that I know well, following my two years with Manchester Originals - I am looking forward to making it home again this summer and pulling on the red rose for the first time.

“The Blast is a competition that I have loved playing in, while testing myself in the County Championship is something I have always wanted to do, so I can’t wait for that.”

Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton also commented: “We are really pleased to get the signing of Ashton over the line for the full group stage of the Vitality Blast, while he will also provide another high-quality overseas option for the County Championship matches throughout that period.

“Ashton fits the role of a powerful middle order player, that we have been looking to add into our T20 side, who also provides another spin bowling option. He knows Emirates Old Trafford very well following his time with the Originals, which means he will feel at home with conditions right away.

“From my conversations with Ashton, I got the impression that he was very keen to come and play for Lancashire. He is a strong leader who has captained Perth Scorchers for a number of the years in the Big Bash and his experiences around the world will serve our dressing room well.”
