Undoubtedly the visitors day after they bowl Lancashire out for 263 with Tom Scriven taking 5-46 and then close to within 143 runs for the loss of one wicket.

6.40pm WICKET
Leicestershire 1st inns 102-1 (20.3 overs) trail by 161 runs, Ahmed 49 Holland 0
After posting a century stand Sol Budinger departs for 41 after pulling Saqib Mahmood to Josh Bohannon at mid-on.

6.23pm
Leicestershire 1st inns 78-0 (17 overs) trail by 185 runs, Ahmed 37 Budinger 30
The visitors continue to build a good opening partnership during the evening sunshine with 12 left to be bowled.

Tom Hartley comes on to bowl for the first time in the innings.

5.53pm
Leicestershire 1st inns 49-0 (10 overs) trail by 214 runs, Ahmed 24 Budinger 19
Rehan Ahmed has cracked his forth boundary through the covers off Saqib Mahmood but then misses with a wild swipe at John Turner in his first over. It has been an eventful start to the innings.

Keaton Jennings makes a double change with Anderson Phillip coming into the attack.

5.40pm
Leicestershire 1st inns 35-0 (7 overs) trail by 228 runs, Ahmed 18 Budinger 13
Rehan Ahmed and Sol Budinger have taken an attacking approach to the start of the Leicestershire innings and so far it has paid off as they rattle along at five runs per over.

We have the sunniest conditions of the day so far which will be handy with 22 overs still to bowl.

5.23pm
Leicestershire 1st inns 21-0 (3 overs) trail by 242 runs, Ahmed 9 Budinger 8
Saqib Mahmood should be celebrating a wicket but the edge by Sol Budinger goes straight between first and second slip for four.

5.15pm
Leicestershire 1st inns 5-0 (1 over) trail by 258 runs, Ahmed 5 Budinger 0
Saqib Mahmood, bowling in first-class cricket for the first time since last May, gets the innings under way and is sharing the new ball with George Balderson.

5.00pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 263 all out (96 overs) Mahmood 13 not out
John Turner edges his first ball from Logan van Beek to Louis Kimber at first slip and Lancashire are all out for 263.

4.55pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 258-9 (95 overs) Mahmood 8 Turner 0
The wickets keep tumbling and it's Tom Scriven doing the damage with a career best 5-46 after he produces another good delivery that finds the edge of Anderson Phillip's bat and caught by keeper Ben Cox.

4.45pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 249-8 (92.3 overs) Phillip 0 Mahmood 0
George Balderson clips his sixth four to the fine leg boundary to bring up his fifty from 132 balls but then has his middle stump uprooted by a terrific delivery from Tom Scriven bowling around the wicket that seams back onto the stumps.

4.30pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 242-7 (90.2 overs) Balderson 46 Phillip 0
Luke Wells' brave effort comes to an end on 29 with Tom Scriven getting his third lbw decision of the day.

4.00pm, TEA Day 2
Lancashire 1st inns 235-6 (87 overs) Balderson 46 Wells 22
The final session after tea could be a lengthy one with 40 overs still to be bowled.

George Balderson has been looking good this afternoon unleashing a number of lovely drives in the run up to the break. Luke Wells is batting with some extra protection on the left elbow after taking a nasty blow that forced him to retire earlier.

3.40pm NEW BALL TAKEN
Lancashire 1st inns 218-6 (82 overs) Balderson 36 Wells 15
After two more overs go by, Leicestershire do take the new ball and hand it to Ian Holland.

3.35pm
Lancashire 1st inns 213-6 (80 overs) Balderson 34 Wells 13
Hard to believe but we only just reached the halfway point of the day with 48 overs left. The ball is due but hasn't been taken by Leicestershire who continue with the off spin of Louis Kimber.

3.05pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 201-6 (74 overs) Balderson 20 Wells 9
Tom Hartley hits a short ball from Ben Mike hard to mid-off where Lewis Hill makes a great diving stop. Hartley had set off for the run, George Balderson hadn't and Hartley is run out as Hill's throw to Sol Budinger at the stumps was accurate and beat the batter's dive.

The fall of that wicket brings Luke Wells back to the crease after he retired hurt on 9 after being hit on the left elbow earlier.

2.50pm
Lancashire 1st inns 197-5 (70 overs) Balderson 20 Hartley 11
Tom Hartley has played a couple of emphatic drives to the boundary to open his account.

2.35pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 184-5 (66.1 overs) Balderson 20 Hartley 0
Tom Scriven makes the breakthrough for Leicestershire after lunch bringing one back from outside off stump to trap Marcus Harris lbw for 77.

Harris now has a Championship-leading 360 runs at an average of 72.00.

2.15pm
Lancashire 1st inns 173-4 (62 overs) Harris 71 Balderson 16
Leicestershire have opted to continue with two slips since lunch and George Balderson has twice edged Ian Holland wide of the slip cordon for four. Debatable whether a third slip could have caught either, certainly a fourth slip would have had a good chance.

The visitors now opt to go with one slip and a gully.

2.00pm
Lancashire 1st inns 156-4 (58 overs) Harris 62 Balderson 7
Three runs added in 3 overs since play resumed after lunch.

The weather conditions have improved steadily as we continue in bright conditions with light cloud cover.

1.10pm, LUNCH Day 2
Lancashire 1st inns 153-4 (55 overs) Harris 60 Balderson 6
It has been a tricky morning at times for the batters but Marcus Harris has stood firm, mixing good defence with some good shots and he has now reached 50 four times in his first 5 innings for Lancashire. Only Ashwell Prince, who posted 50+ in each of his first 4 innings for the Red Rose has a better record.

12.52pm INJURY DELAY
Lancashire 1st inns 138-4 (50 overs) Harris 51 Balderson 0
Luke Wells is coming off injured after playing defensively to Ben Mike with the ball hitting his left elbow.

12.42pm
Lancashire 1st inns 133-4 (49 overs) Harris 50 Wells 5
Marcus Harris has driven sweetly for four three times in the last few overs and he now reaches fifty for the fourth time in 5 innings for Lancashire by pushing a single down to third man.

12.23pm WICKET
Lancashire 1st inns 117-4 (46 overs) Harris 42 Wells 0
A change of bowling does the trick for Leicestershire as Tom Scriven traps Matty Hurst lbw for 46 by bringing his second delivery back enough to beat the bat.

12.05pm
Lancashire 1st inns 96-3 (40 overs) Harris 29 Hurst 38
What an eventful over from Logan van Beek! Matty Hurst brings up the 50 partnership by hitting 18 off 4 balls, started with a pulled six and then three consecutive fours albeit one of them came from an inside edge. The other shots were authentic and nicely timed.

12.00pm
Lancashire 1st inns 78-3 (39 overs) Harris 29 Hurst 20
That was nicely played by Marcus Harris who drives Ian Holland for four through midwicket when the bowler over pitched.

11.50am
Lancashire 1st inns 69-3 (36 overs) Harris 24 Hurst 16
The slips are being kept interested as Marcus Harris twice edges Logan van Beek but each time the ball bounces just in front of first slip.

11.40am
Lancashire 1st inns 68-3 (35 overs) Harris 24 Hurst 15
Rehan Ahmed at third slip drops Matty Hurst for the second time in this innings, a shoulder high chance that bursts through the fielders hands off the unfortunate Logan van Beek.

Meanwhile Ian Holland whistles a beauty that nips away and just misses the edge of Marcus Harris' bat. Batting not looking a great deal easier this morning.

11.33am
Lancashire 1st inns 65-3 (32 overs) Harris 23 Hurst 13
Logan van Beek overpitches and is put away for four through cover by Marcus Harris. Ian Holland, who has two of three wickets so far, is sharing the opening overs.

11.30am
Lancashire 1st inns 61-3 (31 overs) Harris 19 Hurst 13
Play getting under way in cloudy but much brighter conditions with Marcus Harris ready to face Logan van Beek.

11.00am
Good news! Play will start at 11.30am, with lunch at 1.10pm & tea at 4pm.

10.15am
The covers have been removed and the umpires will make an inspection at 11am.

9.45am
Good news, the rain has stopped and the covers are being removed. We are waiting to hear whether play will start on time.

9.00am
Good morning from a damp Emirates Old Trafford where we have had morning rain ahead of the second day of our Rothesay County Championship fixture with Leicestershire.

The covers remain in place but the rain has eased significantly in the last 15 minutes.

With play yesterday finishing at lunch interval, 30 minutes/8 extra overs will be added to today's schedule when we eventually get under way.
