Will Williams to leave Lancashire at the end of his contract
Lancashire Cricket can confirm that seamer Will Williams will join Gloucestershire at the end of the 2025 season.
Williams will leave Lancashire at the end of his contact after making 52 appearances for the Club.
The 32-year-old has taken 126 wickets - including 99 in the County Championship - since moving to Emirates Old Trafford in 2022.
Will Williams said: “Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to Mark Chilton and Glen Chapple for initially bringing me over from New Zealand. It’s been a wonderful experience, and I’ve felt incredibly grateful every time I’ve pulled on the Red Rose and stepped out onto the park.
“Coming from the other side of the world with only a small UK support network could have been daunting, but the lads in the changing room were welcoming from day one. They made the transition seamless - and the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable.
“Lancashire is a special club with a proud history, and it’s been a privilege to be a part of its legacy. I’m grateful for the development of my game over the last three and a half years and will take what I have learned with me into my next chapter.”
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton also commented: “We are disappointed that Will is going to leave us at the end of the season, despite making a strong contract offer to keep him.
“He has been an important part of our squad, but we fully appreciate and respect his decision to find increased opportunities across all formats at Gloucester.
“We would like to thank Will for his efforts since joining us in 2022, he has been a consummate professional and couldn’t have done more to support his teammates and management - both on and off the field - throughout his time. He will leave with all of our best wishes.”
