Lancashire Cricket Women confirm Sophie Ecclestone and Mahika Gaur contracts for 2026
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to confirm that England internationals Sophie Ecclestone and Mahika Gaur have signed contracts with Lancashire Women for the 2026 season.
Both players have agreed shadow contracts that will operate alongside their existing England central contracts, further reinforcing Lancashire Women’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
Ecclestone, widely regarded as one of the leading spinners in world cricket, is a graduate of Lancashire’s pathway system. The 26-year-old has made 58 professional appearances for the Red Rose, claiming 91 wickets. She is the fastest woman to reach 100 ODI wickets and has topped the ICC Women’s IT20 bowling rankings on multiple occasions.
Left-arm seamer Gaur, one of England’s most exciting emerging fast-bowling talents, joined Lancashire in 2023. The 19-year-old has since made 35 appearances for the Club, taking 40 wickets, and went on to make her England international debut in September 2023.
The shadow contracts will ensure both players remain available for Lancashire around their international commitments during the 2026 season.
David Thorley, Director of Women’s Cricket, said: “We are delighted to secure Sophie and Mahika on shadow contracts for the 2026 season. Their continued association with Lancashire is hugely significant for the Club.
“Sophie’s journey from our pathway to becoming one of the leading bowlers in world cricket is something we are incredibly proud of. Mahika is an exciting young cricketer with enormous potential, who has already demonstrated her quality at domestic level and on the international stage.
“Having England internationals connected to Lancashire Women not only strengthens our playing squad but also provides inspiration for the next generation of players progressing through our pathway.”
