Lancashire name 14-man squad for season opener at Northampton
Head Coach Steven Croft has named a 14-man squad for Lancashire Cricket’s opening match of the season against Northamptonshire in the Rothesay County Championship on Friday.
Sir James Anderson will lead the side for the first time since being appointed permanent red-ball captain at Wantage Road.
All-rounder Paul Coughlin and fast bowler Ajeet Singh Dale are included in the matchday squad for the first time following their winter moves from Durham and Gloucestershire respectively, and could both make their debuts in the season opener.
Keaton Jennings and Tom Aspinwall have been ruled out through injury. Both players are currently undergoing rehabilitation with the Club’s medical staff.
Marcus Harris also misses the opening round due to his involvement in the Sheffield Shield final with Victoria. The Australian batter will be available from the second round of fixtures, when Lancashire face Derbyshire at Emirates Old Trafford next week.
On Tuesday, the Club confirmed that Australian seamer Mitch Perry has been ruled out of his overseas stint due to a recurrence of a lumbar stress fracture.
