Matthew Mott appointed Men’s specialist T20 coaching consultant
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce the appointment of four-time ICC World Cup winning coach Matthew Mott as a specialist T20 coaching consultant for the men’s side on a two-year contract.
The 52-year-old Australian will work closely within the Club’s existing coaching structure - overseen by Head Coach Steven Croft - to provide elite-level coaching support and collaborate with staff on player performance for the duration of the Blast over the next two seasons.
Mott brings a wealth of international experience and a proven track record of success at the highest level of the game. He most recently served as Head Coach of England Men’s white-ball sides, guiding the Three Lions to T20 World Cup glory in 2022.
Prior to his role with England, Mott enjoyed a highly successful tenure as Head Coach of Australia Women, overseeing one of the most dominant periods in the history of the international game. Under his leadership, Australia secured multiple ICC titles, including T20 World Cups and a 50-over World Cup triumph.
Mott also has extensive domestic and franchise experience, previously with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, and currently as Head Coach and Assistant Coach with Sydney Sixers Women and Sydney Sixers Men respectively in the Big Bash League.

Speaking about his appointment, Matthew Mott said: “I’m really excited to be joining Lancashire as a T20 coaching consultant for the Vitality Blast over the next two years. The Club has a strong history, a talented group of players and huge ambitions in white-ball cricket.
“I’m looking forward to working with the squad and coaching team to help build on that potential and add value wherever I can.
“The Blast is an incredibly competitive tournament, and I’m eager to get started and contribute to what we hope will be a successful campaign at Emirates Old Trafford.”

Mark Chilton, Lancashire’s Director of Cricket Performance, added: “Matthew’s track record speaks for itself. He has achieved sustained success at international level, winning global tournaments and leading high-performing teams in pressure environments. His experience and tactical insights will be hugely beneficial to our Blast campaigns over the next two seasons.
“We are constantly looking at ways to strengthen while further supporting Steven and his coaches – and bringing someone of Matthew’s calibre into the environment can only be a positive.
“For Matthew, it’s a nice fit to work at Emirates Old Trafford ahead of his role with Manchester Super Giants following the conclusion of the Blast.”
