18-year-old George Brown is the latest person to graduate from Lancashire’s academy and sign a first-team contract.
He agreed a deal at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground until the end of the 2028 campaign, after impressing for the pathway and in appearances for the Second XI during the 2026 season.
For Dan Salpeitro’s Second Team last season, the fast bowler, who plays for Leigh Cricket Club, picked up a couple of second innings wickets against Northamptonshire in a Championship match at the start of May.
He also flexed his muscles with bat in hand, launching 24 from just 10 balls in a T20 friendly against Yorkshire. It was an innings which included two sixes.
Another of Brown’s career accolades to date is when he was selected to represent the North of England in the Super 4s competition in 2025. That week, he impressed with his raw pace.
Upon signing professionally for Lancashire, Brown said, “Having the opportunity to train and share a dressing room with some of the best and most experienced players in the country is something I am incredibly excited about. I can’t wait to learn, develop and hopefully get the chance to contribute.”
