Player Profile

In Jack Blatherwick, Lancashire have got a bowler with considerable pace on their hands - and one who has returned some important and impressive performances in recent seasons.

Right-arm quick Blatherwick was signed from home county Nottinghamshire in late 2020, and ahead of the 2026 summer signed a new two-year contract to remain at Emirates Old Trafford.

Since his arrival in the North West, he has not been an ever-present for the Red Rose across the various competitions, though he has contributed when called upon.

In late May 2024, for example, he helped bowl Durham out for just 75 on the opening night of the Vitality Blast at Emirates Old Trafford with 3-14 from three overs. That represented a career best in 27 career appearances in that format for the now 27-year-old.

He was an ever-present in Lancashire’s Blast team throughout 2025, claiming 13 wickets in 14 appearances.

His best performance of the summer was 4-48 in a Metro Bank One-Day Cup defeat against Warwickshire at Liverpool in August. That was his career best return in that format.

Blatherwick has taken 75 senior wickets across the formats in his career.

In 2023, he claimed 26 wickets in 17 appearances across all formats. That included 4-52 in a One-Day Cup win over reigning champions Kent at Blackpool in August.

He has claimed his bests across all formats in a Lancashire shirt.

In a Rothesay County Championship win over Somerset at Taunton in September 2021, he claimed 4-28 in the first innings. After Lancashire had posted 373 live on Sky Sports, Blatherwick helped demolish the hosts for just 90 amidst a fearsome spell.

Nottingham-born Blatherwick came through the Notts’ age-groups from Under 13s and debuted for them in a One-Day Cup clash with Warwickshire at Trent Bridge in May 2018. He made his Championship debut in September 2019 against the same opponents at the same venue.

He played an Under 19s Test Match and six ODIs for England in 2017, four of the ODIs coming against India at the Wankhede and Brabourne Stadiums - two iconic Mumbai venues.

Blatherwick enjoyed a productive run of second-team matches with Lancashire in 2022, claiming 26 wickets in 13 matches with a quartet of three-wicket hauls.

He added a couple of four-wicket hauls for the seconds in the first half of the 2023 summer, earning his first-team chance in early June.

In second-team cricket in 2024, he claimed 11 wickets in a Championship win over Derbyshire at Denby Village in late August. In the first innings, he took the new ball and ripped through them with 8-65 from 15.4 overs.

Jack’s father Paul is the commercial director at the cricket bat company, B3. His uncle Michael is the managing director.

He winter played grade cricket in Sydney ahead of the 2025 county summer.

He went on to hit a second-team century against Nottinghamshire in a two-day friendly at Sale in mid-May, a well-paced 125 from number five. It was his first career century in any county cricket.
