Ellie Threlkeld commits future to Lancashire Women until 2028

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that Women’s captain Ellie Threlkeld has signed a new contract with the Club, keeping her at Emirates Old Trafford until the end of the 2028 season.

A product of the Club’s pathway, Threlkeld made her senior debut aged just 14 and has gone on make over 262 career appearances across all forms of first team cricket and has been an ever-present for Lancashire sides throughout the professional era.

Renowned for her work behind the stumps and consistency in the middle order, Threlkeld has also captained the side since 2022, guiding Lancashire to an historic double trophy win last summer when she lifted the Vitality T20 County Cup and the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

In last season’s One-Day Cup, Threlkeld - now aged 27 - returned 329 runs from 15 matches, added to 11 catches and six stumpings, including a crucial 92 in the semi-final against The Blaze.

Threlkeld has recently returned from England Women’s intra-squad T20 series in South Africa – her first selection for the senior national side.

Speaking after signing her new deal, Ellie Threlkeld said: “I’m absolutely delighted to extend my time with Lancashire. This Club has played such a big role in my career and it’s a privilege to lead the team.

“We’ve built a really strong group with a lot of potential, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together over the next few years as we head into the 2026 season as defending champions in two competitions.

“Last season was incredibly special, both personally and as a squad, but this is just the beginning for us. Our aim is to continue pushing forward and challenging across all competitions.”

Director of Women’s Cricket, David Thorley, added: “Ellie is central to everything we are building at Lancashire. She is an outstanding cricketer, but just as importantly a fantastic leader and role model who drives standards every day.

“We’re thrilled she has committed her future to the Club through to 2028 and we hope she will play a huge part as we continue to compete for silverware this season and beyond.”
