Emirates Old Trafford to Host Pride Match

Emirates Old Trafford to Host Pride Match

In the lead-up to Pride Month this June, Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that the Vitality Blast double header at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday 29 May will officially mark the Club's Pride Match - reaffirming its commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for players, staff, and supporters alike.

Lancashire Thunder face Somerset Women (2:30pm) before Lancashire Lightning take on Leicestershire Foxes (6:30pm) in what promises to be an exciting day of cricket and one that celebrates Pride and reinforces the message that cricket is a sport for everyone. Click here for tickets.

Beyond Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire Cricket is also working in partnership with recreational clubs across the county to bring Pride celebrations into the communities it serves. To support this, the Club has created dedicated Pride toolkits for recreational clubs to use throughout Pride Month. These packs are designed to help clubs get involved in a way that feels accessible, meaningful and practical - whether through matchday activity or simply by opening conversations around LGBTQ+ inclusion within their club environment.

The initiative aims to forge a clear and lasting link between the professional and recreational game, demonstrating a shared commitment to making cricket a genuinely welcoming space for all.

By celebrating Pride across both Emirates Old Trafford and local clubs throughout Lancashire, the Club hopes to highlight the role cricket can play in bringing communities together and ensuring LGBTQ+ people feel represented, supported and included at every level of the game.

Tom Kent, Head of People at Lancashire Cricket, said: "We are proud to host our second Pride Fixture at Emirates Old Trafford, continuing our celebration of and support for the LGBTQ+ community across the region.

"This event marks another important step in the Club's EDI journey and reinforces our commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome - on and off the pitch."

Mersey Rose player Andi Page and Out4Cricket’s Lachlan Smith joined the Lancashire team for a conversation in the LancsTV studio ahead of the Club’s Pride fixture last year. To watch the full conversation, recorded in the LancsTV studio, click the link below.
