The fixture promises another exciting chapter in a rivalry that has produced plenty of memorable moments in Manchester. England have won five of the six previous ODI meetings between the sides at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground, but Pakistan claimed victory the last time they met on the ground - in a thrilling encounter back in 2003.
A memorable Pakistan victory
Batting first after winning the toss, England struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Pakistan bowling attack. Despite reaching 64-2 in the opening 10 overs, the hosts soon found themselves under pressure as Umar Gul removed Jim Troughton and captain Michael Vaughan in quick succession.
Lancashire favourite Andrew Flintoff provided some resistance, top-scoring with 39, while Anthony McGrath contributed 35. However, England were restricted to 204-9 from their 50 overs, with Shoaib Malik leading the way for Pakistan with three wickets for 26 runs.

Pakistan made a confident start to the chase, with Mohammad Hafeez and Imran Nazir putting on 60 for the opening wicket. Hafeez continued to anchor the innings alongside Yasir Hameed, and their partnership moved Pakistan into a strong position before Hameed fell to Ashley Giles.
England were not prepared to give up without a fight. A cluster of wickets, including two strikes from James Anderson, brought the contest back to life and left Pakistan with work to do. Anderson finished with three wickets for 59 runs, while Hafeez's determined 69 from 112 balls proved crucial in keeping the visitors on course.

With the match finely balanced, Pakistan's lower order held its nerve. Contributions from Malik and Azhar Mahmood edged the visitors closer before Abdul Razzaq and Mohammad Sami took the game into its closing stages.
With the scores level, Razzaq found the boundary to seal a dramatic two-wicket victory with four balls remaining, giving Pakistan a memorable win in Manchester. Hafeez was named Player of the Match for his influential all-round performance.
