Jos Buttler signs three-year Vitality Blast contract extension with Lancashire
Lancashire Cricket has announced that Jos Buttler has signed a three-year Vitality Blast contract extension with the Club.
The agreement will run alongside his existing ECB central contract and secures the 35-year-old’s continued association with Lancashire Lightning in the Vitality Blast through to the end of the 2028 season.
One of the world’s leading white-ball players - winning the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022 - Buttler has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Club since joining from Somerset over a decade ago, and his contract extension ensures Lancashire will continue to benefit from his presence whenever he is available.
Buttler’s record in T20 cricket underlines his standing as one of the format’s outstanding performers. He has scored more than 14,000 runs in T20 cricket across domestic and international competitions, including eight centuries and over 100 half-centuries.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Jos Buttler said: “It always means a great deal to pull on the Red Rose. My international and franchise commitments mean I can’t be around as much as I’d like, but whenever I do get the chance to play or spend time with the group, it’s something I really value.
“Winning the Blast with Lancashire in 2015 was such a proud moment for myself and for the Club and it would be great to play my part in another success in the years ahead.
“I’m delighted to extend my T20 contract and I’m looking forward to contributing on the field and helping the squad in any way I can in the push for Vitality Blast success over the next few seasons.”
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton commented: “Having a player of Jos’s quality and experience associated with Lancashire Cricket is hugely important and beneficial for us.
“Even if his availability is limited to short periods each season, the influence he has around the group is significant. The standards he sets and the insight he brings from playing at the very top level can make a real difference to our younger players and to our performances in the Blast."
