Lancashire Cricket and Utilita partner to drive sustainability and community impact

Lancashire Cricket and Utilita partner to drive sustainability and community impact

Lancashire Cricket has today announced a new three-year partnership with leading smart Pay-As-You-Go energy supplier Utilita, marking a significant step forward in the Club's commitment to sustainability and delivering positive social impact across Lancashire.

The agreement will see Utilita become the Official Sustainability Energy Partner of Lancashire Cricket and Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground, supporting the Club's environmental ambitions through investment in renewable energy infrastructure, including the installation of solar panels across Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground, alongside a range of community-focused initiatives.

As part of the partnership, solar panels will be installed across key buildings at Emirates Old Trafford, helping to generate renewable energy on-site and reduce the Club's environmental impact as it continues its sustainability journey.

The collaboration will also extend beyond the stadium through a number of community and social impact initiatives. Utilita will become the headline sponsor of Lancashire Cricket's next Cricket Expo, while the Lancashire Cricket Foundation will utilise Utilita's Blackburn Energy Hub to deliver community programmes and events.

The partnership will also see Lancashire Cricket and Utilita work together on campaigns highlighting sustainability, community engagement and the positive impact of the collaboration both at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground and across Lancashire.

Lancashire Cricket Head of Commercial Partnerships Becky Hartley said: “We are delighted to welcome Utilita to Lancashire Cricket as our Official Sustainability Energy Partner.

“Installing solar panels across Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground is a significant step forward in our commitment to creating a more sustainable future for the Club. Working alongside Utilita allows us to invest in infrastructure that will have a lasting environmental impact while continuing to improve the way we operate as a venue.

“Just as importantly, this partnership reaches far beyond Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Through the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, the use of Utilita's Blackburn Energy Hub and their support of our Cricket Expo, we'll be able to create even more opportunities to engage with and support communities across the county.

“We are excited to begin working with Utilita and look forward to building a successful partnership over the next three years.”

James Heyes, Head of Group Partnerships at Utilita, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Lancashire Cricket on this landmark sustainability project. Through our fully funded Solar Power Purchase Agreement, the Club can generate more of its own clean electricity and cut carbon emissions, without the need for upfront capital investment.

“The installation of more than 1,000 solar panels at Emirates Old Trafford will generate almost 400,000kWh of clean energy every year, reducing carbon emissions by more than 80 tonnes annually.

“This partnership shows how major organisations can take practical, commercially viable steps towards a more sustainable future, while creating lasting value for the communities they serve. We’re excited to work with Lancashire Cricket over the coming years to raise awareness of renewable energy solutions, support local communities and deliver long-term positive change across the region.”
