Lancashire Cricket confirms new President and Board appointments at AGM

Following Monday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Emirates Old Trafford, Sir Clive Lloyd has been confirmed as the Club’s new President, with former captain, coach and Director of Cricket Mike Watkinson also elected to the Board, while former Lancashire and England bowler Alex Hartley has been named a Vice President.

The three nominated Board members - Paul Taylor (legal), Carolyn Macnab (people, culture and safeguarding), and Richard Thomas (commercial operations) were all strongly supported by members.

Dame Sarah Storey and Vic Stewart were both re-elected to the Board, while Mike Watkinson was elected as the member representative for Member Services and Communication. Watkinson will replace Chris Peacock who has served on the Board over the past three years.

In addition to Alex Hartley, Liz Cooper – who is retiring next month following 11 years of service to the Club - was also confirmed as a Vice President.

Simon Walker, Andy Wyatt and Chris Reynolds were elected to join the Members’ Representative Group.

Members voted on several rule changes and resolutions during the meeting. Resolution 6.4, which proposed an increase in the number of former employees permitted on the Board from two to four, was passed by members.

Full meeting minutes of the Annual General Meeting will be made available to members in due course.

At a Board meeting held immediately after the AGM, Dame Sarah Storey was elected by the Board to become Chair of Lancashire Cricket. Carolyn Macnab will chair the Nominations Committee, while Paul Taylor takes up the role of Senior Independent Director.

Lancashire Cricket Chair Dame Sarah Storey said: “A huge thank you to all the members who engaged with and voted throughout this year’s Annual General Meeting.

"I am delighted to officially welcome Sir Clive as President - what an honour for the Club to have such an incredible individual on our Board. We also welcome Mike, Paul, Carolyn and Richard, who all bring outstanding experience and expertise, and we look forward to working with them.

"It is an incredible privilege to be named Chair of this great Club. I am steadfast in my commitment to ensure that our Lancashire teams are as strong as they possibly can be on the field and growing the game of cricket across Lancashire and the North West. This is what everyone at the Club is striving towards. The expertise of Sir Clive Lloyd and Mike Watkinson joining our Board will only support that aim.

“Finally, I would like to thank Sara Tomkins, who is retiring from the Board, for her outstanding service over the past nine years, and Chris Peacock for his valuable contribution over the last three years.”
