Lancashire Cricket Foundation launches Impact Report

Lancashire Cricket Foundation launches Impact Report

Lancashire Cricket Foundation, the official charity of Lancashire Cricket, has today launched its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting the positive impact of cricket across the county with more than 90,000 people engaged through schools, clubs, pathways and community programmes during the past year.

The report outlines a year of meaningful impact and renewed ambition across Lancashire, as the Foundation continued to grow the game, widen access and strengthen communities through inclusive opportunities that make a positive difference to people's lives.

This year, 78,174 young people were engaged through school cricket programmes, including Chance to Shine, School Partner Schools and the West Lancashire Sport Partnership, helping inspire the next generation to develop a lifelong connection with the game.

IMPACT REPORT

Lancashire Cricket Foundation is dedicated to making cricket accessible to all, fostering a love for the game and supporting the communities it serves. During 2025:

  • 5,931 children aged 5-11 took part in the All Stars and Dynamos programmes, including 1,915 girls.
  • £1.189 million was invested into cricket across Lancashire, supporting facility improvements, community projects and the long-term sustainability of the recreational game.
  • 1,433 young people from 50 SEND schools and colleges participated in disability cricket opportunities, with 65 young leaders trained through the programme.
  • More than 1,000 people took part in Walking Cricket sessions across the county, helping improve physical activity, reduce isolation and support mental wellbeing.
  • 487 young people participated in MCC Foundation Hubs, helping talented players from non-traditional cricket backgrounds access structured cricket pathways.
  • 600+ pupils engaged with the ACE Programme, supporting the re-engagement of African Caribbean communities with cricket.
  • Lancashire Cricket Foundation launched Manchester's first state school cricket academy at Burnage Academy for Boys, providing up to 30 hours of cricket each week and creating new pathways into the game.

A highlight of the year was the continued growth of opportunities for women and girls. The launch of the Thunder Cup created a new high point for women's recreational cricket in Lancashire, while the number of girls' teams increased from 81 to 106 and girls' fixtures rose from 253 to 382 across the county.

Speaking about the 2025 Impact Report, Jen Barden, Managing Director of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, said: "Our vision is to positively impact lives through cricket, and this report demonstrates the difference that can be achieved when we work collaboratively with schools, clubs, communities and partners across Lancashire.

"Whether introducing a child to cricket for the first time, supporting young people from underserved communities, creating opportunities for women and girls, or helping people improve their health and wellbeing through the game, we remain committed to making cricket accessible, inclusive and welcoming for everyone."

2025 also saw the Foundation continue to build on its long-term facilities strategy, investing in projects that improve access to high-quality cricket environments across Lancashire. Through targeted investment, facility development and support for grassroots clubs, the Foundation is helping create more places to play and ensuring cricket remains sustainable for future generations.

The Foundation also strengthened its commitment to inclusion and representation through the work of its Youth Advisory Group and Inclusion Advisory Board, ensuring that the voices of young people and diverse communities continue to help shape the future of cricket across Lancashire.

The work of Lancashire Cricket Foundation underpins the wider ambitions of Lancashire Cricket's Red Rose Together campaign, which champions the role cricket can play in bringing communities together, improving lives and creating opportunities for all.
