Lancashire represented at The School Games and Super 4s Festivals
Lancashire Cricket’s Girl’s Talent Pathway has been well represented on the regional stage across the summer.
The Red Rose had a total of nine players selected across ECB-led tournaments The School Games and Super 4s Regional Festivals in 2026. It has been successful time for Lancashire’s Girl’s Talent Pathway.
These festivals, which form part of the England Women Under 19s selection process, are crucial for the development of the best up and coming players in the country. They bring together the best Under 19s cricketers in the country for a week of internal matchplay and fixtures against Ireland and Scotland.
The School Games
There were nine Lancashire players who were selected to play in The School Games this summer. They were:
Scarlett Anderson
Evie Bennett
Deepa Chukkapalli
Hannah Cook
Eliza Cottam
Olivia Cunliffe
Grace Hemsted
Skye Thomas
Venus Weerappuli
Thomas and Weerappuli were both unable to take part due in the event due to being in the Lancashire Women first team squad for the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Super 4s
Out of those nine players involved in The School Games, six were also picked to take part in the Super 4s. They were:
Evie Bennett
Eliza Cottam
Olivia Cunliffe
Grace Hemsted
Skye Thomas
Venus Weerappuli
Both festivals give the players a brilliant opportunity to test themselves in a highly competitive environment.
They got the chance to experience playing high-level regional cricket, which helped them to continue their development alongside and against players from across the country.
Head of Girl’s Talent Pathway, Stewart Davison, oversees the development of the age-group players at Lancashire.
He took time to look back on the two ECB-led festivals that have taken place this summer, and gave more insight into what the benefit can be for the players who have received such a prestigious call-up.
“Being selected for these events is a fantastic achievement for the players and something they should be immensely proud of. It’s something that every individual has earned through outstanding performances in County Age Group (CAG), Academy and 2nd XI cricket this summer.
The experiences that players gain from these opportunities are hugely beneficial both on and off the field. Competing with the best U19s across the country provides great development and a chance to showcase their abilities.
To have nine players represent Lancashire over the two weeks is testament to the work being done in the pathway, at CAG, Emerging Player Programme (EPP) and the Academy. We are really proud of how each individual has developed and are excited by the depth of talent across the pathway”
