Finally we reach the close and undoubtedly Derbyshire have had the better of the 72.3 overs bowled today, losing just the two wickets to bring themselves within reach of Lancashire's first innings total.

Brooke Guest goes to his fifty from 111 balls as Lancashire ring the changes in the hunt for a wicket before the close which is four overs away. Tom Hartley and Harry Singh providing a double spin attack over these closing minutes.

With Lancashire setting attacking fields, the Derbyshire pair have picked off some useful runs with a series of good drives, Martin Andersson - who made a double century last week - has a run-a-ball 24 and the 50 partnership has come from just 60 balls.

No further success for the Lancashire bowlers as we reach tea, and with dark clouds overhead the groundstaff are moving the hover cover into place.

Six runs came from the fifth ball of James Anderson's over, two actual runs plus four overthrows, before Harry Came chops the next delivery onto his stumps to be bowled for 83.

That was a fast, hostile six over spell from Mitch Stanley who gets a rest and is replaced by James Anderson. Harry Came reached his second fifty in two matches from 120 balls.

SIX & OUT! Mitch Stanley deserved that. The ball after Matt Montgomery pulled a Stanley bouncer over midwicket for six to go to 46, the bowler pitches the ball up with the resultant edge flying to Paul Coughlin at gully.

Cracking over from Mitch Stanley is asking questions of both Derbyshire batters. Some short deliveries mixed in with fast, pitched balls and the bowler very close to gaining success there.

Tom Hartley resumes the Red rose attack as the afternoon session starts in sunny weather. Mitch Stanley has switched ends and is now operating from the Sir James Anderson end.

Derbyshire will be rightly pleased with their morning's work, not losing a wicket, but Lancashire have bowled tightly and kept the scoring rate down to just over two runs per over.

A good battle developing this morning as Harry Came and Matt Montgomery post their 50 partnership off 125 balls.
Tom Hartley is brought into the attack in the run up to lunch as Lancashire hunt a breakthrough.

Play resumes in bright sunshine with just over 40 minutes to go before lunch.

Agony for Paul Coughlin who sees Harry Came dropped at midwicket by Marcus Harris diving to his left.
And then a heavy shower sweeps in to send the players scurrying off the pitch.

Play was held up temporarily by two advertising boards being blown across the pitch.
We are back under way with Tom Bailey and Paul Coughlin into the attack after that opening burst by Mitch Stanley and James Anderson, who were a touch unlucky not to have made a breakthrough.
The bowlers have kept things pretty tight so far with just three boundaries struck this morning.
