This is becoming Northamptonshire's afternoon as we head towards tea at 4pm, george Bartlett reaching a 100-ball half century and his partnership with Lewis McManus is now worth 88.

George Bartlett and Lewis McManus have taken their partnership to 50 runs off 72 balls with some good counter-attacking play to revive the visitors innings.

George Balderson has taken another wicket, his second, as James Sales plays loosely at a ball moving away off the seam and nicks behind to go for 19.

George Bartlett has got off the mark with an edged four that bounced in front of the slip cordon.

What a debut Ben Walkden is having, getting his third wicket by knocking back the off stump of Saif Zaib for 3.

Lancashire have a double breakthrough as Luke Procter goes for 39 caught by Arav Shetty at point driving at Tom Bailey.

Ben Walkden makes the breakthrough, trapping Nathan McSweeney lbw for 20.

That quiet start was suddenly interrupted by a near run out, as Nathan McSweeney-having set off for a single-hesitated and both batters were next to each other in the middle when Arav Shetty's throw at the stumps from midwicket just missed. A lucky escape.

Ben Walkden is now into the attack for the first time today, replacing Mitch Stanley.

It has been a fairly quiet start to the day with the Northants batters consolidating their position, Luke Procter adding just six runs to his overnight score and Nathan McSweeney driving nicely if the bowlers overpitch.

The sun continues to shine as we approach the start of play, and it's good to see formed Red Rose skipper Dane Vilas back at the club today.

Dane is here for a lunchtime Q&A in the Pavilion and he joined the team group during the warm ups earlier.

We have bright, sunny conditions ahead of day two of our Rothesay County Championship match against Northamptonshire, with the visitors resuming their first innings on 56-2 with skipper Luke Procter 26 not out and Nathan McSweeney yet to score.

Only 18 overs were possible yesterday, meaning we will have extended playing hours today: Start 11am, Lunch at 1.10pm, Tea 4pm, Close 6.30pm or when 104 overs have been completed.
