Mal Loye returns for Red Ball Celebration fixture
Lancashire Cricket can announce that Mal Loye will return to Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground for the Club's Red Ball Celebration fixture against Northamptonshire this week.
Loye - a former Lancashire and Northants batter - will take part in a Q&A session for Members on Day Four (Sunday 23 August) of the Rothesay County Championship fixture. It will take place in the Members' Lounge at the lunch break.
Loye represented the Red Rose for seven seasons between 2003 and 2009 and scored over 10,000 runs for Lancashire across all formats.
A destructive white-ball player, Loye averaged 33 in List A cricket (8,973 runs) and had a T20 strike rate of 132. He is one of seven players to hit a century in the shortest format for Lancashire, scoring 100 against Durham in 2005.
Loye's career at Northamptonshire, where he was born and made his first-class debut in 1991, spanned two spells either side of his time with the Red Rose. Across his career at both counties, Loye passed 15,000 first-class runs and hit 53 centuries in county cricket.
Mal Loye said: “I’m really looking forward to coming back to Emirates Old Trafford at the weekend. This Club will always mean a lot to me, and the seven years I had here were some of the best of my career. It’ll be great to watch some good, competitive cricket against my old side, Northants, too, so it should be a fun one for me either way!
“It’ll be great to sit down with the Members for the Q&A. I always enjoyed that relationship with the crowd when I played, and it’s nice to have the chance to share a few stories and reflect on my time with Lancashire.”
The Club's inaugural Red Ball Celebration fixture forms part of its commitment to growing attendances for county cricket. Members will be able to claim two additional complimentary tickets on any day of their choice, offering the perfect opportunity to share the experience with friends and family.
Northamptonshire County Cricket Club has been provided with a discount link for its Members, with adult tickets available to purchase for just £10 per day.
Junior tickets are priced at just £1 per day for all four days, making this an ideal opportunity to introduce the next generation to the County Championship – particularly during the school holidays.
