Marcus Harris passes 2000 Lancashire runs
Lancashire Cricket’s overseas star Marcus Harris crossed the milestone of 2000 runs across formats for the Red Rose on Sunday.
Since his first appearance for Lancashire at the beginning of the 2025 season, the 34-year-old has been a run machine in the middle order, hitting 2069 runs to date.
It is a significant achievement for the Australian batter, who is the sixth current player to reach the milestone. He’s done it in double quick time, taking just 42 innings.
On top of that, Harris has got the best average of any Lancs player to have 2000 runs or more since the Second World War, which surely makes his feat even more impressive.
The Western Australian has scored his runs at a stellar average of 53.05. That is a number which eclipses anyone else in the list; his fellow Aussie, Brad Hodge (51.42), is the only other player to average above 50.
He passed the 2000-run mark at Uptonsteel Grace Road on Sunday, in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Harris hit a blistering 71 from just 46 balls, as the Red Rose hit 383 from their 50 overs.
The 34-year-old, who represents Victoria in state cricket Down Under, has previously told LancsTV just how much he loves playing for Lancashire.
“The ground is pretty impressive, and obviously a big club with a lot of history.
“To be able to put pen to paper last year for a couple of years was something really important to me. When you’re part of a team, you want to be there for the whole season, so that’s my plan.
“I love being here, Manchester is really great, I really enjoyed my time here last year.”
Harris has been a run machine so far as a Lancashire player, and he is here to stay. The batter has already committed to representing the county in 2027 too, which will be his third season at the club.
His run scoring knows no bounds, and he will be hoping this rich vein of form for the Red Rose will continue for the rest of 2026, and into next season, too.
