Tom Bailey extends contract with Lancashire Cricket

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce fast bowler Tom Bailey has signed a one-year contract extension with the club, keeping him at Emirates Old Trafford until the end of the 2027 season.

The 35-year-old, who hails from Preston, is a product of the club’s Academy system, and made his first team debut back in 2012 against Surrey.

In 207 games for the Red Rose across all formats, Bailey has taken 527 wickets and chipped in with 3100 runs, including 12 half-centuries.

His contribution with the ball over the years has seen the fast bowler take 50 or more wickets in a single County Championship season on four occasions. 2018 was his best campaign in terms of red ball wickets, picking up 64 at an average of just 19.

That same season, the Academy graduate was awarded his county cap, recognition for his excellent performances.

Bailey’s career best of 7-37 against Hampshire in 2021 is one of 17 five wicket hauls in the longest form of the game.

Speaking about his new contract Tom Bailey said: “I am delighted to extend my time with Lancashire and stay at Emirates Old Trafford for a 15th season in 2027. It is special to still be able to call my boyhood county home.

“We have a talented group of fast bowlers here, led by Jimmy, with a good mix of experience and some talented young bowlers. It’s enjoyable being part of such a tight-knit unit.

“Hopefully, I can continue making contributions with the ball and help the club return to Division One.”

Lancashire head coach Steven Croft also commented: “It is a huge boost to the club that Tom has agreed to stay at Emirates Old Trafford for another season.

“He has been a consistent performer for Lancashire over the past decade, and to have his experience amongst the group is massively beneficial.

“Bails is a key part of our plans and extending his contract was important for the club, so it is something that we are delighted to get sorted for next season.”
