George Brown signs first professional contract with Lancashire Cricket
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that fast bowler George Brown has signed his first professional contract with the Club until the end of the 2028 season.
The 18-year-old’s contract officially begins on November 1, with Brown becoming the latest graduate of Lancashire’s Academy to progress into the professional setup.
Brown, who plays his club cricket for Leigh CC, progressed through Lancashire’s county age-group system before joining the Academy last winter. He has since been rewarded with opportunities in the Second XI this season, impressing with the ball and showcasing his ability with the bat in T20 cricket.
The right-arm quick, who began his junior cricket at Monton CC, was also selected to represent the North of England in the prestigious Super 4s competition in 2025, where he impressed with his pace.

Speaking after signing his contract, George Brown said: “I am really proud to sign my first professional contract with Lancashire, especially as I’m a local lad. I have put in a lot of hard work to get here, but this is just the beginning, and I know I need to continue working hard.
“Having the opportunity to train and share a dressing room with some of the best and most experienced players in the country is something I am incredibly excited about. I can’t wait to learn, develop and hopefully get the chance to contribute.”

Head Coach Steven Croft added: “We are really pleased that George has signed his first professional contract with Lancashire. He has impressed throughout his time in the Academy and with the Second XI when given the opportunity, and he deserves this chance.
“Developing young talent is something that the Club prides itself on, and George is another exciting young fast bowler coming through our pathway. He has plenty of potential and will add further quality to an already exciting pace-bowling group.”
